Natasha's Law is a UK food safety regulation that came into effect on 1st October 2021 following the tragic death of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse in 2016, who suffered a fatal allergic reaction to a product that lacked clear allergen information.

Businesses must ensure that PPDS foods are labelled with;

  1. The full list of ingredients, in descending order by weight
  2. Any of the 14 major allergens clearly highlighted (e.g., in bold or underlined)

The 14 allergens include;

  • Cereal containing gluten (wheat, rye, barley, etc.)
  • Nuts, peanuts, eggs, milk, fish, shellfish, soybeans, sesame mustard, celery, lupin, suphur dioxide and molluscs.
